The colours of love... Shih Tzu colours! |
||
I have been raising Shih Tzus for the past 20 years and have mostly gold and white or black and white puppies with the occasional Black tuxedos and, more rarely, gold with a black mask. Most of the puppies from my gold and white line are of the standard size; that is the females grow to between 9 and 11 pounds with the males slightly bigger. The occasional male will top out to 14 pounds but that is unusual. The puppies from the black and white line tend to be smaller in size. One of my males weighs only 5 pounds, which is exceptional, as most of the dogs are about 7 pounds for the females and 8 pounds for the males. The black tuxedos also are on the smaller size - around 7 to 8 pounds. Occasionally a black may get to be larger. The black and white or "Black Tuxedo" dogs come from the so-called "Imperial" line. This is not a recognized variation of the Shih Tzu either in the US or Canada. They do not breed true. That is, two very small dogs can and probably will produce a litter of both small and larger pups. My puppies are guaranteed for 5 years and any genetic defect, except umbilical hernias. Umbilical hernias are very common in Shih Tzus and do not affect the dog in any way. For appearance sake, the vet will usually repair them when the dog is spayed or neutered. You may also return your puppy at any time during the first 2 months if you find he/she does not meet your expectations or does not fit in with your family. In that case, you may have a refund or pick another puppy. Take a look at our beautiful "offspring" (These are PAST litters.
